ATL is Partnering With Honor
Building a Bright Future Together
A Message To Our Members
Dear ATL Federal Credit Union Members,
ATL Federal Credit Union is excited to announce a partnership that will help build a stronger future for you, your family, and our community. We have decided to partner with Honor Credit Union, another Michigan-based credit union. The spirit of cooperation has been the foundation of the credit union philosophy from the very beginning, which is what made the partnership between our organizations a natural fit. The core missions of ATLFCU and Honor are already aligned, each of us are dedicated to not only the financial success of our members, but also the reinvestment into the communities we serve.
By bringing these credit unions together, we’ll be able to offer more opportunities to you, our member. The combined credit union will benefit by offering even more top-of-market products that will save you and your family money, in addition to convenience services that will make your life easier.
What does this mean for you? Only good things!
• Earn 3.00% APY on balance up to $10,000 with Benefits Checking*
• An ATM installed at our 36th Street location, plus access to 35,000+ surcharge-free ATMs nationwide
• Additional shared branches located across Greater Grand Rapids (coming soon)
• Business lending services
• An award-winning dedication to serve local communities
• Honor CU is Michigan-based and has 23 locations throughout Southwest Michigan, Greater Kalamazoo and Battle Creek areas, the Upper Peninsula, and has digital solutions state-wide
• And best of all, the same friendly faces will continue to help you at our 36th Street location
We promise to make every effort to make this transition as smooth as possible for you. Many of the changes will be behind the scenes. It will take several months to complete this voluntary merger, and we’ll keep you thoroughly updated throughout the process. Upon regulatory approval and a positive member vote, ATL Federal Credit Union will become part of Honor Credit Union. Upon merger, one of ATLFCU’s current board members will transition to become an Associate Director and serve on Honor CU’s Board of Directors. This will ensure the voice of you as a member and the strong foundation established by Star Truck Rentals will continue to be well represented both now and in the future.
Thank you for allowing us to serve you. We look forward to growing with you in this new and exciting partnership!

Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely not. This is a partnership between two successful organizations so that we can serve you, and our community, even better. This partnership is voluntary, and the members of ATLFCU have voted in favor of this partnership.
ATL Federal Credit Union will be changing its name to Honor Credit Union.
The partnership between ATL Federal Credit Union and Honor Credit Union is expected to become official on Friday, October 1st, 2021.
The main office will be located in Berrien Springs, Michigan. The 36th Street ATLFCU location will remain open.
Coming together as one organization allows us to combine resources to grow in our communities, take better care of our current members, and to bring in new members.
This is a unique time in the history of our economy, and it has created some new opportunities for two credit unions like ATLFCU and Honor Credit Union. We’ve seen increased competition and growth within the credit union industry, and we’ve continued to see banks take a step back. This is a great opportunity to take a step forward for our members and communities.
You’ll continue to still see many of the same friendly faces when you visit the 36th Street location, and all team members will be retained during this transition! A great benefit of this merger is that there is no overlap and that employee positions fit well in each organization.
As a combined organization, we gain substantial savings through economies of scale. For example, both credit unions currently operate on the same data processing system, which will reduce costs going forward. We will also be combining phone systems, internet banking systems, ATM networks, and more. While there are short-term costs associated with combining credit unions, in the long-term this positions us to be more efficient. It also helps us provide members with additional conveniences and enhanced products and services.
Many things! More products and services and greater impact in your community. Also, the merged organization will allow two strong credit unions to join together to provide the opportunity to offer membership across the State of Michigan.
You can keep both accounts, but may want to meet with a Member Specialist to combine the accounts.
At this point in time, there will be no changes to any pop-up locations availability, and members will continue to be able to access their accounts in the same way they do today.
Same great service! You will only see positive changes, including more access points with an expanded ATM network and Call Center accessible for extended hours. At this time, we do not anticipate any service interruptions but we’ll definitely keep you informed.
The Wyoming location’s hours will change to the following effective Monday, October 4th:
Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Wednesday: 10:00am – 5:00pm
Friday: 9:00am – 5:30pm
Monday -Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Friday: 8:30am – 5:30pm
Yes. Both credit unions are federally insured through NCUA.
ATLFCU’s main phone numbers of 800.253.4634 and 616.257.4285 will remain in use both before and after the partnership process is complete, but we recommend you save Honor’s main phone numbers of 800.442.2800 and 269.983.6357 as well.
ATLs website will transition to www.HonorCU.com effective Monday, October 4th.
Our goal will be to make this transition as smooth as possible for all members, but there may be some changes that will impact your accounts. As these changes are identified, we will be sure to communicate them directly with you.
For most members, your account number will not change. However, for a small subset of you that have account numbers that overlap an existing Honor CU account, your account number will change slightly beginning on October 4, 2021.
If your account number is being changed, you will receive direct communication from Honor on what to expect moving forward. If you don’t receive any thing, your account number will be unchanged.
Checks – Any existing ATL FCU checks will continue to clear for at least the next six months, however, we encourage you to replace your current checks with Honor CU checks beginning in October. To request new checks, simply call or stop in and we’ll order you replacement boxes of checks at no cost.
Debit / Credit & ATM Cards – You will continue to use your ATL FCU debit and/or credit card as you normally would until the end of the day on Saturday, October 2nd. On Sunday, October 3rd, access to your funds through any of these cards will be removed and beginning on Monday, October 4th, all transactions must shift over to your new Honor CU card(s). These cards are being mailed mid-September and are estimated to arrive the week of September 20th.
• Important: Your Honor CU cards are not to be used or activated until October 4th!
Your new Honor CU payment cards are estimated to arrive the week of September 20th to the mailing address you have on file. It’s important that you do not use these cards immediately as they will not be ready for use or activation until Monday, October 4th at which time your ATL card(s) will be closed.
Direct Deposit: If you have a regular payment directly deposited (such as a paycheck), immediate action is not required, unless you have these funds being distributed across more than one suffix i.e. loan payment. In this case, please contact us and we’ll make sure these distributions are set up correctly. Regardless, we do recommend letting the company know about your new routing number and member number/suffix (if applicable) on or after October 4th. If you set up new direct deposits after October 3rd, please make sure to use the Honor routing number.
Automatic Payments: Soon after October 4th, it’s a good idea to update your new routing number and member number/suffix (if applicable) to ensure that all electronic transactions attached to your accounts from outside vendors continue to process correctly. You do not need to change automatic payments from within your Honor account.
Beginning October 4th, please mail all payments to:
Honor Credit Union
8385 Edgewood Road
Berrien Springs, MI 49103
Rates on existing fixed-rate loans will remain the same. Through economies of scale, the combined organization is looking to provide better rates and fees for members. Any changes will be clearly communicated in advance along with any new service offerings.
As a welcome gift from Honor, no credit card payment will be due in October. Your next credit card payment will be due November 28th and no interest will accrue during this period of time.
Online Banking Questions
As part of this transition, your online banking experience will be updated, which was previously planned soon for ATL members anyways. Your telephone banking experience will be unimpacted, but you may be required to use your new account number, if applicable.
Beginning on Monday, October 4th, your online banking access will shift to HonorCU.com. When logging into for the first time, select the “First Time User?” option below the main login widget. You will be prompted to login using your new member number (if applicable) and social security number. Once authenticated, you will be prompted to create a custom username and password for future access.
Unfortunately, any existing online bill pay account will not transition over to your new Honor CU account and will require you to re-enroll and set up required payments. If you were impacted by this, you will receive additional instruction on the steps moving forward.
Your access to ATL’s online banking and mobile app will be removed at end of day on Friday, October 1st. Beginning on Monday, October 4th, your online banking and mobile app access will shift to HonorCU.com.
